Gender and Family: Parenting and Care in Ukraine

The course focuses on the features and consequences of the transformation of gender order on the example of the institution of family in contemporary Ukraine. Its theoretical and methodological foundations are within the framework of gender, socio-cultural analysis, and feminist theories. In particular, the course will cover: issues of marriage, childhood and parenthood in the family, contemporary orders of care in the family and beyond, impact of social structure on fatherhood and motherhood in contemporary Ukraine, discourses and practices of motherhood and fatherhood in contemporary Ukraine, civic activism of parents in Ukraine.
