Course summary [en:field:field_course_summary:course:label]
The course is devoted to the main issues of gender order transformation in post-socialist Ukraine and Europe. Its theoretical and methodological foundations are within the framework of gender, socio-cultural analysis, postcolonial, and feminist theories. The connection between the individual and the family in post-socialist transitions can be traced throughout all the topics. In particular, the course will consider: gender transformations in contemporary Ukraine and other post-socialist countries; gendered nature of family roles in mass consciousness, media, education and public policy; exploitation of the intimate sphere in socialist and post-socialist countries (Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Russia); comparison of gender order in post-socialist European and socialist Asian societies.
