Course summary [en:field:field_course_summary:course:label]

The course is devoted to the core issues of the transformation of the gender order in post-USSR Ukraine and Europe. The theoretical and methodological grounds are within the frame of gender analysis, sociocultural analysis, post-colonial and feminist theories. Throughout all the themes, the connection between the individual, the family and social order can be traced in post-socialist transitions through the lengthens of gender (in)equality. In particular, the course will address: gender order transformation in post-USSR and modern Ukraine, and other post-socialist countries; the gender roles of the mass consciousness, media, education and public policy; exploitation of the intimate sphere in the socialist and post-socialist countries (Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Russia); a comparison of gender order in post-socialist European and socialist Asian societies.
