Call for Papers
The Programme Committee of the XVI Polish Sociological Congress has released a Call for Papers. Please find more details below. We are looking forward to your paper proposals!
The list of thematic panels is available here.
The Programme Committee of the Congress announces a call for papers.
Basic conditions of participation in XVI Polish Sociological Congress:
-
A participant can play only two roles during the Congress, those of
- an organizer of one thematic panel/symposium/plenary session,
- a presenter of one paper.
- A participant cannot present more than one paper during the Congress (poster, distributed papers included). This also refers to co-authored papers.
- The participants of a thematic panel cannot all come from one research team/institute/university etc.
Paper submission guidelines:
- The submission is carried out through the online registration and paper management platform, called “Congress system”. Paper proposals submitted outside the system will not be taken into account. The Congress system will be launched on February 20, 2016.
- Everyone willing to submit a paper should first register for the Polish Sociological Congress through the system (please go to “Registration” button on our web-site 16zjazdpts.pl).
- After the registration, one can submit his/her paper proposal through the system.
- Each paper proposal should be submitted to a particular thematic panel. In the Congress system only the titles of thematic panels will be visible. The full descriptions of the panels are available at the Polish Sociological Congress web-site 16zjazdpts.pl (“Programme” section).
- One person can only submit one paper proposal.
- In the Congress system, the paper submission form will include the following sections:
- name and last name,
- academic title (Dr/Prof etc.),
- institutional affiliation,
- email address,
- paper title (up to 15 words),
- paper abstract (up to 300 words).
- The deadline for submitting paper proposals is March 31, 2016.
- One can submit a co-authored paper proposal. In this case, he/she introduces the paper details in the Congress system and adds the names of the co-authors. All the co-authors must beregistered in the Congress system. However, only the person who has submitted the paper proposal through the system can “see” this paper in her/his individual profile.
- The co-authored paper proposal uses up the possibilities of having a paper for each co-author. In other words, the basic principle of the Congress is “one person – one paper”.
- A Congress participant can submit a paper proposal to a panel he/she organizes. However, only one among thematic panel organizers can have a paper in their own panel, other panel organizers need to choose another thematic panel should they wish to submit a paper proposal. The only exception to this rule is when one paper is co-authored by several organizers of a panel to which it is submitted.
- Decisions about whether a paper is accepted for presentation, accepted as a “distributed paper” or rejected is taken by thematic panel organizers through the Congress system.
- Thematic panel organizers can choose the format of their panels (e.g. round table, debate etc.). Panel participants should respect the instructions of the organizers.
- Regardless of the format of the thematic panels, names of the panel participants and the titles of their papers will appear in the Congress programme.
- A thematic panel can consist of max. 5 presented papers (one session) or max. 10 presented papers (two sessions). In addition, up to 5 distributed papers can be selected.
- In case a thematic panel turns out to have an insufficient number of paper proposals, the Programme Committee has the right to cancel it. The thematic panels should consist of at least 4 presented papers per session (i.e. the panels with 1 to 3 paper proposals will not be launched, while panels with 6-7 paper proposals will have to limit the number of accepted presented papers to 5 in order for all of them to fit into one session).
- The thematic panel organizers should mark the results of the selection process via the Congress system, by April 15, 2016.
- The Programme Committee will overview the decisions taken by the thematic panel organizers in order to ensure that these are in agreement with the basic conditions of participation in XVI Polish Sociological Congress. The Committee has the right to change these decisions if they do not meet the conditions presented herein. The Programme Committee will publish the list of the accepted papers on the Congress web-site by May 31, 2016.
